Concrete Reinforcement

You can increase the structural stability of any building with the use of carbon fiber products to reinforce the concrete used in its construction. Since the time of the Romans—and even several millennia before—concrete has been a structural repair and reinforcement material for construction and civil engineering. But in these modern times, we need to rethink how we make and use concrete. Technology has given us Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer, also referred to as CFRP. Concrete has long been a go-to construction product because of its affordability and effectiveness, but the use of CFRP for concrete reinforcement and structural repairs creates a new world of strength, dependability, and ease of use for the construction, repair, and restoration of any structure, bridge, or road.

Because carbon fiber is not as dense as steel and is five times lighter, it can be up to five times stronger. By using carbon fiber polymer products to reinforce concrete, a building’s load capacity can be greatly increased and any design flaws found with the original concrete structure can be repaired or addressed. Using carbon fiber structural products to reinforce concrete in new construction means the structure begins its life with the most stable, load-bearing capacity available without having to worry about the destructive forces around it such as wind and water.

Whether new construction or old, to be effectively used to reinforce concrete, CFRP must bond to the surface of the concrete. Structural stress and characteristics of the concrete must be considered in order to achieve the desired result which is to improve the durability and strength of the structure. By adding carbon fiber to the structure, its resistance to change is magnified and the inferiorities of concrete when used alone become negligible. For new construction, carbon fiber filaments can replace steel in wall panels and also replace steel rebar.

Carbon Fiber Support is committed to safety and we believe that strengthening, repairing, and reinforcing concrete structures with carbon fiber products is how we realize that goal. Using carbon fiber to reinforce existing and new concrete structures means we are delivering on our belief that carbon fiber concrete reinforcement products will help make the world a stronger, safer place for all of us.
